Good news! CityBizList just reported that our home town of Atlanta, Georgia has been ranked by Jones Lang LaSalle’s “Life Sciences Cluster Report” as a key player in the life sciences field nationally.
With the respected academic presence of both Georgia Institute of Technology and Emory University coupled with strong state economic incentives and all of the rising health information technology companies in the vicinity, the ranking doesn’t come as a surprise. As the study details, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and American Cancer Society and Arthritis Foundation are also all headquartered in Atlanta.
Among other statistics, some of the most noticeable numbers were Atlanta’s $343,352,066 received from the National Institute of Health and nearly 10 percent of the city’s employment coming from high tech research and/or medical jobs.
As we approach the close of 2011, this news motivates Liaison Technologies to uphold Atlanta’s emerging reputation as we enter the New Year. With many new partnerships coming down the line as part of our healthcare partner program, a $30 million grant for growth and the new addition of Merck’s Clark Golestani to our Board of Directors, we have a lot to look forward to.
Until next time,
Gary
