  • Technology Mesh

    Jun 27, 2012
Or more appropriately named – ‘Technology Mess’. This installment of my blog is to explore how advances in technology aren’t always what they seem. We as a society still need to be responsible ethically, environmentally, and in general use common sense.

  • It’s Summer Time – A Summary of Life This Year at Cancer Camp

    Jun 25, 2012
As an outsider, the thought of calling it “Cancer Camp” may sound strange. And you’d also be amazed that the kids jokingly refer to themselves as the “poor little sick kids” at Camp Sunshine. But having served as a volunteer counselor for the last 16 years, I know that the children attending camp feel soooo comfortable in their surroundings that they can joke about it. Camp Sunshine gives them the opportunity for a week for them to “just be a normal kid.”

  • Rural Sourcing: Good for Liaison, Good for Customers, Good for Rural America Part 2

    Jun 14, 2012
We recently caught up with Joe Hessling, a mapping analyst and 2012 Southern Illinois University (SIU) graduate, in our Managed Services hub in Carbondale, Illinois. Joe is one of several new hires we’ve made since beginning our rural sourcing initiative there in 2010. A native of Nashville, Illinois, an hour north of Carbondale, Joe joined Liaison in January part time while completing his bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. Within two months—before he graduated—he was promoted to full-time status.

  • Rural Sourcing: Good for Liaison, Good for Customers, Good for Rural America Part 1

    Jun 13, 2012
This past February, Liaison announced the expansion of its technical support center in America’s heartland – Carbondale, Illinois. A community in southern Illinois with a population of just 26,000, Carbondale might seem an unlikely place for a pivotal part of our company, but for us rural sourcing has made a lot of sense.

  • GS1 Connects

    Jun 08, 2012
As I sit on my return flight back home, I find myself reflecting primarily on the many interesting conversations I had with customers, partners and other representatives from various industries all brought together by a common purpose. The GS1 Conference was my first trade show as a member of the sales team at Liaison Technologies, and I can’t wait to participate in the next! It became very apparent that my colleagues were relying on me for my technical knowledge and expertise from the onset. As we puzzled over how to assemble our booth, I was teased more than once with “you’re the engineer, you figure it out!”. I’m a sales engineer, not a civil engineer! I’ll admit that I’m not the most mechanically-minded person in the world, but after some trial and error we managed to set everything up and were ready for the show!

  • Reflecting on Brilliance

    Jun 06, 2012
Last week was a very exciting and somewhat invigorating week for Liaison Technologies, and on a personal level. I had the opportunity to attend the Red Herring 100 Awards conference in Santa Monica. I have to tell you, there is something about being surrounded by companies that are thought of as the most innovative game-changers in the tech industry. For those who don’t know, each year the Red Herring Magazine editorial team selects the top 100 most innovative companies from a pool of hundreds across North America. The nominees are evaluated on both quantitative and qualitative criteria, such as financial performance, technology innovation, quality of management, execution of strategy and integration into their respective industries. Liaison was fortunate enough to be nominated earlier this year as a consideration for this prestigious award.

  • SandHill.com Guest Blog: Deep Dive into Data-as-a-Service Impacts on Business Ecosystems
